Week 9

We are nearing the end of the term and our Human Machine inquiry projects are looking fantastic. In a small group, we were given a body system and had to use our literacy and creativity skills to create something to do, something to say and something to show. Some learners have taken this briefing very seriously and excelled with their learning tasks. We are about to share and celebrate our learning with other classes early next week.

Yesterday we had Karen from the Hastings Hearing Awareness organisation. She presented some detailed information about how we can best protect our hearing. The session was interactive and some children had a turn at using a 'tuning fork' to see how vibrations travelled. Our challenge was to share this invaluable information with our families at home and help even more people be knowledgable about looking after their hearing.

Next week is Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori - Maori Language week.  We are once again getting creative and creating a 1 minute video including one or two of the Te Reo phrases that have been provided to school. There are all sorts of concepts within the class and to say humour is being included in these films is an understatement! at HNIdol next Friday, some exemplary films will be shown at half time. Lets hope Room 12's creativity is shown to a much wider audience!

Enjoy your week!
