Class Councillors & Sports Captains Cycle 1

Music group 2

Room 10 have been super busy with Mrs McHattie making sweet music. I had the privilege of hearing the learning over the past few weeks with a presentation of two songs. All students were playing the guitar, reading music, thinking about their strum and singing at the same time. To say I was impressed was a really big understatement. Keep up the hard work Rm 10 - you make me proud every single day!

Sheppard Get Out And About! #Weareinspired

Last Friday our Sheppard house of 150 students were mobilised. We visited the Art Society exhibition at the Hastings Racecourse in the Cheval room. We were all impressed by the high quality of artworks exhibited. There were many different themes and mediums used. Looking closely at the artwork, a common theme of detailed and interesting works emerged. We stopped outside the Hastings library to look at the Pou which we will be creating during Te Kotahitanga week which is fast approaching. We then travelled to the Napier MTG museum to look at NZ artists. This museum was amazing and the exhibits were all so very different. The purpose of our trip around Hawke's Bay was to come away feeling inspired as we are fast approaching our Sheppard exhibition in our very own HNI hall. It is going to be epic!

Girls Vs Boys Challenge #Friday Funday!

Our first girls vs boys challenge has been held and I am pleased to announce... girl power was victorious for this challenge! Quite simply, the winner was the person who could sink the most shots with a basketball and the hoop within 60 seconds. Zahra scored 7 shots and Evan 5. Congratulations to both participants who took the challenge seriously and tried their very best. I wonder what is install for next weeks challenge and who will be participating? (Our class councillors will be leading this weekly challenge - can't wait to see who is called up next)!

Crab Soccer For PE #somuchfun

This week for PE, it was raining outside so we headed over to the hall for a game of crab soccer. Prior to starting the game we had some relays to warm ourselves up and to get the heart pumping! A special shout out to Brooke and Ashley who did twice as much exercise during the relays as anyone else. Their team was short two people and they pushed the limits out of the stratosphere to really compete at a very high level in comparison to other teams. It was another opportunity for me to see resilience in action as some relays required a problem solving approach to conquer them. The game of crab soccer was so much fun to watch. The ball ended up flying in so many different directions and the crabs were speedy at recovering it and ensuring it travelled in the correct direction. Got to love PE in the hall when the weather is miserable outside!
