Today we were at the Village Pools battling it out against the other 3 houses. It was a beautiful sunny day and we had a lot of fun in the water. We started off with some fun which was a great way to start the day. House competitions involved us working as a team. We then moved into the elite part of the competition with races where people had done really well from the swimming sports two weeks ago. A manu competition, passing Nemo around the pool and a free swim was the icing on the cake at the end of the day. Congratulations to all Rm 10 students that put their best foot forward. I am super proud of every single person and can't wait for our next HNI event to arrive. Ka mau te wehi.

Sheppard chant girls
Today our battle was girls vs boys. We had ten minutes to rehearse our Sheppard class chant written by Jordan and Kennedy. We had to work as a team to decide how we were going to present an energetic performance. Here is the proof to see what was achieved after ten minutes. Drum roll please.... girl power was victorious for todays battle.
Sheppard House Chant!
(Kennedy, Jordan, Ashley, Ocean and Brooke)
Don’t mess, don’t mess, don’t mess with the best.
Cause the best don’t mess.
Don’t fool, don’t fool, don’t fool with the cool
Cause the cool don’t fool.
Beat em, bust em, that’s our custom.
Raise your hands, stomp your feet,
Mighty Sheppard can’t be beat
Gooooooooooooo Sheppard!

Resolving Conflict
Last week we were practicing the very important skill of using 'I Statements.' When someone does something that annoys you or you feel like you aren't being listened to, using 'I Statements' is a powerful strategy to combat those emotions. During the year small issues, provocations and times of frustration will be experienced. It is important we remind ourselves we are more than capable of communicating our emotions and telling people what we are thinking. Congratulations to Oscar, Ollie, Evan and Luca who entertained us with their role play. It definitely showed us how to use them and resolve conflict! Well done lads!

Week 1
What a wonderful first week we have had getting to know one another. Lets just say we are all in for a fantastic year in Room 10 with lots of fun along our journey. We have already become familiar with different personalities, strengths within our team and how we can best support each other.
