Elections
What is an election?
An election is a is a type of vote that men and women can vote on. Which ever party has the most votes wins.
Why do we have elections in NZ?
NZ HAVE VOTES so that every 3 years other people have a chance to have their say on things that are happening in our country. And so that other people can try and do better than the person before them.
What happens during an election in NZ?
There's a lot of parties here are some: Maoris, Green, Labour and National. MMP stands for Mixed Member Proportional. MMP is a voting system that people vote on which party they want to win. If a party gets 40% of the votes and another party gets 8% of the and then 1 more party gets 3%, then they can join so that they run the country, this is called a coalition government.
